SearStone residents participated in the Wake County Senior Games and Silver Arts for the second consecutive year. This year, the number of participants tripled with 23 residents competing in events ranging from cornhole to tennis and even a singing competition.

SearStone residents brought home 27 gold, bronze and silver medals.

Encouraged by Mark Johnson, SearStone’s Wellness Director, many competed for the first time in their lives. Instead of cheering on children, children supported parents and grandparents as they competed for a medal. Resident support for each other was also evident as they cheered on friends at the cornhole competition at Crabtree Valley Mall.

Mark Johnson said, “SearStone residents enjoyed the competition and, of course, winning medals, but the best part of the event was making new friends from other areas in Wake County.”

The Senior Games provide an excellent way of staying fit, engaging in the Wake County community and measuring one’s ability against others in the same age group. Many residents are planning to represent SearStone in the State Games in the fall.
