Some people exercise to lose weight. Others exercise to look buffed and beautiful or to increase the flexibility of movement. But the most important result of a regular exercise program is general body wellness and the strengthening of inner body processes which can ultimately resist trauma and provide faster recovery from occurring health problems.
Exercise helps the condition of the heart, lungs and circulation, boosts the body’s production of macrophages (cells that attack bacteria), raises the body temperature to help fight off germs, reduces blood pressure, and increases stamina and energy by many internal chemical processes.
The following is a documented interview that supports the benefits of a regularly executed exercise program under the supervision of trained personnel. The fitness program was carried out at A.CT. in Greensboro, under the supervision of the organization’s trained staff. The testimony is an incredible lesson that confirms the importance of fitness programs and wellness training.
Dave is a regular client involved in several A.C.T. programs. Outside of A.C.T., Dave is an avid tennis player, active is his church community, sings in a quartet, always willing to volunteer to assist fellow exercise colleagues and is enjoying an active lifestyle in his “Golden Years” over 80.
Unexpectedly, while celebrating his birthday on a vacation to the beach, Dave was a victim of an unfortunate car accident that hospitalized several people in the car, including Dave. Dave had to have spinal surgery and was potentially in a life threatening situation. He was taken away from his current healthy lifestyle to one that had him down in recovery for several months. Following surgery all activities were suspended indefinitely. At Dave’s physician’s discretion, he began rehabilitative therapy and was well on his way to what some call a “speedy recovery.” Every step Dave took was for the positive and his medical records noted he was well ahead of the healing curve. During his interview for this article Dave quoted, “I am convinced my healing was a seminal event in my life.” It was shortly thereafter that Dave’s physician released him back to his current fitness program to replace the rehab therapy.
Dave’s strong physical condition prior to the accident allowed all body functions to work at peak performance during the healing process. He is back to maintaining his health on a regular schedule and continues to condition to regain his position back on the tennis court soon. Dave is truly a testimony to wellness training.
