My grandmother lived in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Greensboro nearly 50 years ago. In those days a CCRC did not offer the resort style living that it does today but it did offer an attractive, comfortable and secure lifestyle. By the standard of the day it was excellent. The name CCRC has given way to the more descriptive term “Life Plan Community.” But the idea is the same; it’s the ultimate “set it and forget it” housing, health, and lifestyle option. Today‘s “Life Plan” communities offer resort-style living
at its very finest coupled with the ultimate in peace-of-mind-no-matter-what-happens security. This industry continues to evolve as it meets the demands of the current generation of retirees for luxurious living. This spills over into every aspect of today’s lifestyle.

Our cover story raises the question: What happened to the “Early Bird Special?” You, our current generation of retirees, have eschewed the “Early Bird Special” and gravitated to exotic cocktails crafted with fresh and creative ingredients. You are savvy diners that have
traveled the world and developed refined palettes and you want those culinary adventures to be available at your neighborhood bistro. The world continues to change and it has evolved in a very stylish manner for those lucky enough to be entering … or are perhaps well into … your retirement years.
