I shared in my last article my excitement about a new joint effort between Retirement Resource Guide and Retirement Living Associates, Inc. We have been busy with a wide variety of special guests that have shared their thoughts and insights on a broad range of retirement related topics. Our “library” of video podcasts titled “Retire Wise” will go live in February and be available on all podcast platforms as well as YouTube. We look forward to bringing to all interested in watching and listening conversations with these guests.

A few examples:

  • We very much enjoyed recording a couple of episodes with Elaine Marshall, our NC Secretary of State. Secretary Marshall was accommodating and extremely well informed to a granular level on many aspects of how and where her Department works with and protects North Carolina citizens and specifically those of us over 55.
  • Lots of new information was shared when we created a couple of episodes with Tom Akins who is the President and CEO of LeadingAge North Carolina. LeadingAge is a NC Non-Profit senior industry association. They are active in recent efforts in revisiting the NC Statutes that govern Continuing Care Retirement Communities and other “outfront” thinking efforts.
  • An especially personal few episodes we made were visiting with key individuals involved at Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community as 2024 was Springmoor’s 40th anniversary. The resident, family and employee history at Springmoor are impressive and were fun to visit via a podcast.

Moving beyond these first podcasts we look forward to bringing together lots of folks ranging from regulators, government officials, experts in management, marketing, development, leadership from retirement industry associations, residents and more. Podcasts are somewhat new to me and have been fun to create with a new media for reaching people. I hope you will enjoy watching or listening to our Retire Wise video and audio podcast.

On another update, I want to share that I started Retirement Living Associates in the late 1990s because many developers and managers were asking us for input, guidance and advice with retirement communities. This same responding to ongoing inquiries is being addressed now as I have a new Vice President of Operations with Brandon Hair on board. A recent press release can be found at https://www.pr.com/press-release/928560. I am excited to take my almost 40 years and Brandon’s 10 years of senior living experience and benefit other communities.

On a final note for this article, I want to invite all of you to let me know of an interesting person, story or community that we may want to include in the Retire Wise podcast.
